Pyruvate is a naturally occurring carbohydrate that is found in the human, and animal body.   Structurally, pyuvate is known to be an ester or anion of pyruvic acid, both terms are used interchangeably.  It is the end product that forms from glycolysis which sometimes leads to further synthesis to produce lactate or acetyl CoA.   Pyuvate is biochemically involved in the Krebs cycle, helping to facilitate the production of ATP by providing a catalytic effect, which in turn aids in the process of weight loss.

 

With the addition of calcium atom, this combination is believed to amplify cellular respiration by controlling the amount of energy the mitochondria uses.   Calcium acts as a stabilizing mineral by preventing hydrolysis from occurring when exposed to water.  Other derivatives of pyruvate commonly observed are sodium and potassium, which are less stable.  Increased energy production in mitochondrial organs will result in an increase in fat loss.   Claims have suggested that increased amounts of pyruvate can amplify fat loss by up 48% without compromising the loss of muscle mass.  However, studies concluding these results had controlled conditions where subjects were exposed to above average does of the pyruvate supplement.
